Event summary
Hundreds of school children attended the annual North West Eco Schools Conference where Fairtrade Lancashire had a stall. Preston supplied the goods for this and we collected a grand total of £220. Garstang, Clitheroe and Fylde groups were also represented, and ran the activities which were very popular – “bagatelle” and matching Fairtrade goods to their country of origin.

It was a great day with over 500 primary and secondary pupils and at least 36 schools attending. There were workshops, talks, activities and lots of stalls to engage both teachers and pupils. St Christopher’s High School from Accrington spoke of their eco activities over the last 5 years, which included a trip to Brussels to pick up an award, a visit to India and a “sleepout” to show solidarity with homeless people. The young people were passionate and inspiring, and along with Longridge High School, picked up one of the prizes at the end of the day.
